Reforming the Recovery Phase of Emergency Management at FEMA

As of June 1, there is a new Recovery Directorate Organization at FEMA/DHS. It is related to but not part of the final National Disaster Recovery Plan, due out in a month or so. Information about the New Organization for the Recovery Directorate at FEMA ( 32 pages of charts) is available now. For the first time in FEMA’s history, the recovery function has been elevated to the directorate level.

NOTE:  The Congressional Research Service report noted at the top of the homepage, contains a number of references to the use of the Stafford Act for recovery planning. This is a new concept and worth exploring for those interested in recovery.
