One Response to New Recovery Discussion Group

  1. Robert (Bob) Tabler says:

Thanks Claire, for developing this discussion group on disaster recovery. I feel that this is an area that needs more attention from the emergency management community. Many of my friends who work for NGOs and NFPs, complain that the government disappears with the majority of their resources, when the work involving disaster recovery begins. In the past, FEMA’s focus seemed to be on planning, rescue, and response; leaving the community, virtually on its own when it comes to recovery. While FEMA does hire a few recovery specialist, it seems that compared to workers in planning, rescue, and response they are paid much less and bring fewer resources. Hopefully, this group can can help change the government’s mindset. Regards, Bob Tabler
