New Buildings Rise in Flood Zones. One in eight new residential projects in New York is being built along the riskiest waterfront. The buildings may be resilient, but what about the neighborhoods?
Aren’t we wasting our time even talking about resilience, codes, flood plains, etc? People with that kind of money can take the property losses. I have no feeling for the people who make these decisions and gamble on their lives and property. I would ask that the press and whatever government agency is stuck with looking after the next mess not bombard me with how I should help.
