A few comments…
• I was surprised to NOT see a recommendation for improved data standards; collection, processing and dissemination. What good are better criteria for their recommendations 4 and 5 if the data are still poorly collected and inconsistently reported? The CDC’s “guidance” on data collection has led to a situation in which uncertainty about the true state of affairs abounds.
• Recommendation 4 may not be legal – federal enforcement of local action.
• I’m not sure that expanding health insurance accomplishes anything relative to Covid-19. Similarly resolving health care inequities. It is much more important to resolve health inequities; health care plays only a small role in health. Solving the environmental and food issues in poor neighborhoods – improving the health of the poor – will do much more than further futzing with health care.
