Anyone can say almost anything “may” happen. This story is just scaremongering. The fact is no one is quite sure what’s going to happen with THIS virus. Some coronaviruses have disappeared almost overnight; some have lingered on and eventually become a sort of constant background to our daily lives, e.g., the common cold.
It is rather likely we will have a vaccine with mass immunizations starting 1Q21. If that’s the case, then we will reach effective herd immunity by the end of the school year. Years of masks and social distancing in schools – nah!
