Disaster Sociology – rediscovered

Disaster Sociologists Study How Hurricane Sandy Changed Life in New York.  Well, the Sandy info may be new, but we have had disaster sociologists for about 50 years!

The study of disasters is beginning to look like archeology: new layers reveal what has been known for many years!

  1. Isn’t ironic that in the Information Age so little of the huge amount of information available is accessed and used? As a result, we spend large amounts of money relearning the lessons of the past, while having minimal impact on our future. Sometimes I think that the only thing that academia and action have in common is that both start with “ac.”
