1 thought on “Where Will Evacuees from Sea Level Rise Settle?”
I use to teach emergency management to public health students. Last year, one of my group assignments, was to evacuate and relocate everyone south of New Orleans, Louisiana. The students, were given 10 years, as a timeframe, to accomplish this task. They were required to deal with the infrastructure, legal, social, cultural, psychological, and financial aspects involved. It is time for the US, to start looking into how we will relocate whole lowlying and coastal communities in response to rising sea levels. On another note, I hear a lot about rising sea levels, but won’t rivers flowing into our seas and oceans, also rise? This will force the relocation or vast mitigation of lowlying communities, far inland.
